We are collaborating once again this year with London’s long-established Musical Traditions Club to present a concert of traditional Irish song.
Len Graham is one of Ireland’s best-known traditional singers. He has gained an international reputation for his inimitable singing style and for the breadth of his knowledge of Irish music. Born in County Antrim in 1944, Len’s love of Irish music began when his father, a fiddle player, took him to traditional sessions locally as a young boy. Throughout the 1960s, Len travelled around Ireland to record and preserve traditional songs, befriending singers such as Eddie Butcher and Joe Holmes, who became his mentor. He won the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann singing competition in 1971.
Len is a leading authority on traditional Irish song and has recorded more than twenty albums to date. He has collaborated with poets and storytellers, in particular John Campbell, with who he had a 20 year association. During the 1980s and 90s, John and Len took their performances to cross-community groups around Ireland. Since John’s passing in 2006, Len has toured regularly with storyteller Jack Lynch.
