This concert features the London launch of the latest albums from a number of our guest artists.

Paddy, Caoimhín and Seán present Flute and Fiddle, an album of duets, first released at the November TradFest in Ennis in 2018.

“How welcome it is to be asked to endorse such a quality fiddle and flute album as this from two young Waterford musicians. Attractive, effortless and well-chosen pieces make this recording a welcome companion to the collection of any follower of quality music.” John Carty

Doireann and Sarah released The Housekeepers in May this year. As a result of family commitments and the social norms of the day, women’s music-making was largely confined to the home, which explains why so many never received the recognition they deserved. Female musicians of previous generations, with the exception of the few who recorded commercially, tend to be remembered as peripheral figures in the tradition. This is far from a true reflection of their musicality, abilities or the esteem in which they were held.

Produced with assistance from the Arts Council of Ireland, The Housekeepers explores the lives and music of five remarkable female Irish traditional musicians from the early 20th century – Ella Mae O’Dwyer, Nora Hurley, Aggie Whyte, Ellen Galvin and Molly Myers – and celebrates their artistic legacy.

Páraic, Graham and Noel present Páraic’s debut album, Not Before Time… 39 Years in the Making, released at the Feakle Festival in 2018.

“Beautiful tunes, beautiful phrasing, beautiful rhythm.” Martin Hayes.
