Nollaig
Casey and Arty McGlynn are a most exciting duo who together provide
a rich mix of talent and experience. Nollaig and Arty first met in Dublin
in 1979, after which their musical paths crossed again and again at recording
sessions, television and radio studios and on stage with Andy Irvine,
Planxty, Makem & Clancy and Maura O'Connell. The more they played
together the more they enjoyed each other's company and eventually in
1984 they married.
Born
into a well-known West Cork musical family, virtuoso fiddler Nollaig Casey
is one of the most gifted musicians of her generation. She has been a
member of two of Ireland’s most influential bands, Planxty and Coolfin,
and has played and recorded with major artists including Enya, Van Morrison,
Sinéad O'Connor, Rod Stewart, Emmy Lou Harris, Mary Black, Carlos
Nuñez, Spandau Ballet, Elvis Costello and Christy Moore.
Nollaig’s compositions have been recorded widely and used for TV
and film and she has been the featured soloist on over 20 films, notably
Dancing at Lughnasa and Waking Ned.
Arty
McGlynn hails from Omagh, Co. Tyrone and is without doubt the finest and
most sought after guitar player in Ireland with a unique understanding
of the music he performs. He has played and recorded with the likes of
Christy Moore, Paul Brady, Donal Lunny and Liam O’Flynn and has
been a member of influential bands such as Planxty, Patrick
Street, De Danann and The Van Morrison Band. Arty
is equally in demand as a producer, and his collaborations with artists
such as Christy Hennessy and Frances Black have resulted in critical acclaim
and chart success in Ireland, the UK and America.
