Dermot Byrne, Tom
Morrow, Éamonn Coyne and Séamie O’Dowd
A
native of Co. Donegal, Dermot Byrne is a member of super-group
Altan. He first learned his music from his father Tómas
O Beirn, from the Gaeltacht area of Teileann, and he heard all
the great Donegal fiddlers from his infancy. With this start, it was hardly
surprising that Dermot was a renowned accordion player before he reached
his teens. He has played and recorded with many great musicians including
Séamus and Manus McGuire, Frankie Gavin and Pierre Schrye and he
also has his own solo recording.
Tom
Morrow is a native of Carrigallen, Co. Leitrim and is the eldest
of a musical family. He began playing music at an early age with Tommy
Maguire and played with a wide range of musicians around Leitrim and Cavan
including The Cornafean Group and Antoin McGabhann. He has won
numerous awards including the All-Ireland fiddle title and in 1998 joined
the revered band Dervish with whom he has toured extensively
in Europe, North America and Asia.
Originally
from Dublin, banjo player Éamonn Coyne is now based in Edinburgh.
He has performed and recorded with numerous artists including Siobhán
and Tommy Peoples, the Wrigley Sisters, Eileen Ivers, Sharon Shannon and,
most recently, Scottish international group Salsa Celtica. Éamonn
has toured with various bands – including Stockton’s Wing
– throughout the US, Cape Breton, Europe and Russia.
Séamie
O’Dowd comes from a background steeped in the legendary traditional
music of Co. Sligo. Hailed as one of Ireland’s finest and most versatile
multi-instrumentalists, he is also a member of Dervish with whom
he has toured world-wide. Séamie has recorded and played with many
world-renowned musicians including Matt Molloy, Liam O’Flynn and
Mary McPartlan.
