John Devine

John Devine is an uilleann piper and multiinstrumentalist and his new album P.L.A.Y. is his first solo recording. It draws on a wide variety of musical experiences and styles to explore a very personal, life-long relationship with traditional Irish music.

Recently described as ‘Frank Zappa meets the Chieftains’, John has used old recordings, dialogue and modern recording techniques to create musical montages and sound scapes. The CD features Clive Carroll, Sam Proctor, Alan McCleod, Katherine Rogan, Caz, Joe and Bernie Devine, Steve Rodford and Bryan Smith.
