The London Lasses and Pete QuinnFor more than a decade, the band described by Irish Music Magazine as ‘one of the best on the scene today’, has brought its unique sound to some of the world’s most prestigious festivals and concert halls, including Cambridge Folk Festival, which they opened this year, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Glastonbury, Ballyshannon and the Philadelphia Irish Festival and the BBC Proms, where the band performed the first ever BBC Proms céilí as part of the 2008 Proms. The Lasses headlined on the Peace III Gig Rig in Cavan at this years All Ireland Fleadh. The band’s present line-up features Co. Kerry flute player Elma McElligott and Co. Down singer/harpist Brona McVittie, together with long-standing members Elaine Conwell (fiddle), Karen Ryan (fiddle/mandola), Maureen Linane (accordion) and Pete Quinn (piano/keyboard). In 2010, the band released its 4th album, By Night and By Day. Karen Ryan has recently recorded her debut solo CD, The Coast Road, which is due for release on Cló Iar Chonnachta in early 2012.
