Colman Connolly, Paddy Egan and Tad SargentColman Connolly grew up in London, where he learned the uilleann pipes, flute and whistle from the age of seven. Winner of several All Britain titles on the pipes, he has just returned from four years teaching and performing in Ireland and plays in London with 'Siansa', Harriet Earis, 'Déirin Dé' and Emily Spiers and her band 'Blue'. Paddy Egan, from Wicklow, has been playing traditional Irish music on the concertina since 1989. He graduated from the University of Limerick in 2007 with a MA in Ethnomusicology and lived and performed in Galway, until his recent move to London. He has travelled extensively throughout Europe and has played as far afield as the National Theatre in Tokyo with ‘The Geantraí Players’. He currently teaches concertina at the London Irish Centre Tad Sargent was introduced to Irish music by his parents. Originally a pianist, he took up the bodhrán and the bouzouki in his teens. Tad has performed with many well-known Irish musicians in town, including Brian Kelly, The Long Notes and Darren Breslin. He has also worked with Claire Tchaikwoski, Guy Richie’s ‘Punch Bowl Band’ and performed on stage at the Royal Albert Hall for Boris Purushottama. He is resident bodhrán teacher at the Hammersmith Irish Cultural Centre. Colman, Paddy and Tad are popular session hosts on the London scene and have recently been well received as they bring their trio to the concert platform. |
